Partnering with Junior Achievement to Develop Employability for Tomorrow's Talent

Young people face many of the same employment uncertainties as the generations before them. The difference now is that today’s world of work is even more complex, volatile and fast-moving, and many of the jobs of the future do not even exist yet. Consequently, too many young people find themselves graduate-ready, but not job-ready.

As employers, we have a joint responsibility to create opportunities that help tomorrow’s talent move into work and up the career ladder, so they’re equipped to become our leaders of the future.

This is one of the reasons why ManpowerGroup is proud to support Junior Achievement – whose purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy. Known as Young Enterprise in the UK, Junior Achievement is Europe’s largest provider of education programmes for entrepreneurship, work-readiness and financial literacy. Last year, they equipped 3.6 million students in 40 countries with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to start a business or get a job.

ManpowerGroup’s Ready for Work Award Marking the second of a three-year partnership between Junior Achievement and ManpowerGroup, our signature Ready for Work Award was presented as part of Junior Achievement Europe’s flagship Company of the Year competition earlier this year.

This competition encourages young people to develop business skills by setting up and running a mini company for a year, and it attracts more than 340,000 participants.

ManpowerGroup’s 2018 Ready for Work Award was presented to Art of Joy (Kunsten a glede) from Norway. Their innovative business model involved selling 100% organic, eco-friendly t-shirts that have been designed by children battling cancer at a leading hospital in Oslo.

The winning team was awarded a year-long mentorship programme led by ManpowerGroup’s Right Management career experts. They will work with the students to develop hard and soft skills, provide work experience, and facilitate individual and team coaching to build the students’ employability.

Stefano Scabbio, President of Northern Europe, Mediterranean & Eastern Europe, ManpowerGroup, said: “Congratulations to the deserving winner of this year’s award – Team Kunsten a glede from Norway. These future leaders and young entrepreneurs demonstrated agility, collaboration, perseverance and creativity – skills that will serve them well in this fast-changing world of work. We look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with Junior Achievement Europe to help hundreds of thousands of students upskill, nurture their learnability and become work-ready, not just graduate-ready.”
