The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey is the most comprehensive, forward-looking employment survey of its kind. It’s used as a key economic indicator by the Bank of England, UK Government and the European Commission; and asks 2,100 UK employers if they intend to hire additional workers or reduce the size of their workforce in the three months to the end of June 2015.

The Q2 2015 report, released on 10 March 2015, identified a surprise hiring spike planned in the public sector, whilst the private sector reported a “wait and see” approach to recruitment. The fall in oil price showed signs of hitting Scottish jobs, whereas Utilities firms predicted their strongest hiring intentions for eight years with the renewed emphasis on value and switching driving investment in customer service operations.
