ManpowerGroup Wins Prestigious Armed Forces Gold Employer Recognition Award

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has this week named ManpowerGroup, the world’s workforce expert, as a Gold Award winner in its Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) for 2017.

The award is the highest badge of honour for organisations who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and demonstrated outstanding support for those who serve and have served. ManpowerGroup is one of just 33 organisations to achieve a Gold Award in 2017 and the only employment services company to receive this accolade this year.

Mark Cahill, Managing Director of ManpowerGroup UK commented: “We are very honoured to achieve ERS Gold Award status. We value the work of all members of the armed forces and recognise their commitment and the sacrifices that their families also make. As a business, we are proud that we count former serving members including wounded and sick, members of the Reserves and spouses as our employees. In particular, we value the skills and experience they bring to our business.

“Last year we received the Silver Award and to win this Gold Award so soon after is testament to the great work so many people in our business deliver – from running the highly successful and important Career Transition Partnership for service leavers, to supporting our clients recruiting veterans and helping spouses re-enter the labour market.”

ManpowerGroup has been a strong supporter of the defence community for many years and through the Career Transition Partnership has supported over 180,000 veterans return to civilian life. This programme provides resettlement support to all service leavers – identifying their transferable skills, developing tactics for approaching the job market, providing training to help them establish new careers and connecting them with employers who would benefit from their experience.

ManpowerGroup also recognises the important work done by Reservists and offers them flexiblity to complete their training.

ManpowerGroup reaffirmed its commitment to the armed forces by signing the Armed Forces Covenant again in May 2017, which reaffirms that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect.

Congratulating the winners, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said:

“These companies have shown the gold standard of commitment to supporting members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. They have taken meaningful steps to ensure the Defence community are not disadvantaged by the sacrifice they make in helping keep this country safe. The actions of these employers make it crystal clear that regardless of size, location, or sector, employing people with military skills is good for business.”

The ERS was launched in 2014 to recognise businesses that are exemplary supporters of the Armed Forces Covenant.
